Theatre as Witness: Joanna Pickering's Distinctive Voice Comes Into Focus at Hay Festival
Joanna Pickering has been asked whether she will ever write about different themes. Her answer is that women’s stories on these themes have not run out—they’re only getting started. Her one-woman play Don’t Harm the Animals, performed in the open air at Hay Festival, follows a woman isolated at the top of a mountain as she confronts PTSD in the aftermath of sexual assault.

Hosted by Sierra Boggess of Little Mermaid fame, the evening kicked off when a Brooklyn school teacher, Delaney Barbour, took to the stage to sing the praises of the diverse, inclusive performances presented by Moliere in the Park which is nothing to scoff at.
44 Lights
The road to the musical 44 Lights is an interesting one. I got to speak with Tuttle before seeing the off-broadway debut of this new work. What first started out as one song turned into Music From Ground Zero, a concert honoring those lost, turned into a documentary, then became a one-man show, and thus became the workshopped musical today.
