Have you ever noticed that all of the things that led up to a Saint becoming a Saint would today get them at least a 3-day hold at Bellevue?
Gada Jane takes us through her discovery of psychic abilities having grown up in an atheist, academic household. What should have been a relaxing meditation on vacation turned into talking statues and her wondering precisely what kind of mental disorder she could possibly have. But maybe Gada Jane should just listen.
In this 50-minute Ted-Talk-type retelling of her journey to being an intuitive practitioner, Gada Jane takes a comedic approach - recounting trysts, tribulations and triumph. Her light approach undermines what may have been truly traumatic – thinking you’re losing your mind. Instead of digging deep, I felt more like I was watching an info-mercial for her practice. What must have been raw and intensely vulnerable is neatly packaged and put on display.
Gada Jane will be performing at four more fringe festivals this year. She has an amazing story to tell, and I would encourage her to allow her performance to be colored by the reality of what she went through without the sugar coating. Just as she can see what’s going on inside a person, I can see the heart of this story. It’s bubbly beneath the surface, looking for a way out.
