PSA: Pelvic Service Announcement

Written by Amy Veltman

Presented by the New York City Fringe Festival

April 8, 2026 - April 13, 2026

I remember meeting with a doctor before a surgery who was questioning whether I was making an informed decision. She offered, “You could have a full hysterectomy”. “What would be the down side?” I asked. “You will pee when you sneeze.” And here we find Amy Veltman, who may pee, just a little, like the little piggy on his way home.

Through song and story, Amy holds the audience in the palm of her hand or perhaps, snuggly on her pelvic floor? You have signed up for TMI if you’ve signed up for PSA: Pelvic Service Announcement. With great wit and skill, Veltman shares her journey through Kegels, a nutritionist, and a poop chart to find her passion. On her journey, she becomes intimately acquainted with both her bladder and her bowel, Maxine and Bob. One woman, perhaps, but many parts for sure!

Veltman's PSA resonated with the audience. Having a health professional dismiss anything you have to say is surely universal. And sadly, ignoring your body's signs is all too common. Having someone translate your medical woes to song is unique. You will definitely see yourself in Veltman whether you leak a little or not. And don't worry, if pee isn't for you, you will learn about your poop too!

Besides her witty words, Veltman's character work is stellar. You will never be at a loss for which part of her is speaking. Whether working on Maxine gave her strong arms or she never misses arm-day at the gym, I would be remiss if I didn't mention her absolutely perfect cactus arms! But under that strength is a remarkable vulnerability that endears her to all except perhaps her own children. But if your children don't think you're strange, then you're definitely doing something wrong.

I am not surprised when I see the number of awards this production has won. You will walk away thinking about your body in a whole new way. And, with a packet of Benefiber! Say to yourself, “This is a show I taint gonna miss!”
